Be Blameless in God's Sight

Deuteronomy 18:10-13

Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

Walk by Faith and Not by Sight

We walk by faith and not by sight. We should be prisoners of our hope. The answer to our prayers are much closer than we think. Now is not the time to give up. We may feel that we have ventured out too long and yet our destination is too far away.

God is telling you today not to give up now. You feel that you are so tired of waiting because the evil one knows that the answers from God are just around the corner and he doesn't want us to reach it.

Proclaim to the Lord that you receive what you believe. That you are a prisoner of the hope that God has given you. Keep strong in faith in the Lord and you will see it.

Be Ready To Accept Change and to Accept God's Call For You

Want to focus today on the example set by the Apostle Andrew. Andrew was first a disciple of John the Baptist whose testimony led him to believe in the Messiah, Jesus. He was quick to recognize Jesus and introduce Him to his brother Peter. He was also sure that Jesus could perform great things and hence was eager to introduce the boy with... the loaf and fish. He was also one of the disciples who told Jesus of the Greeks searching for him. Andrew thus believed in his ministry. His ministry was to bring others into the presence of Jesus.

Andrew was one of the closest disciple of John the Baptist and probably was being trained by John to do greater things. But when he became one of Jesus' disciple, though he became one of the Twelve, he wasn't chosen by Jesus to be a part of the Inner Circle of Three to witness the raising up of Jairus' daughter, the Transfiguration and for the prayer at Garden of Gethsemane.

But Andrew did not complain. He believed in God's plan for the others and God's plan for him. He was ready to accept change and move forward with his ministry of bringing people to Jesus, unlike some of the other disciples of John the Baptist who were still confused at Jesus' preaching. They couldn't accept change and probably took a long time to realize their call from God.

What God has in store for you is not what you have planned for yourself. Accept the change God brings in your life and listen to His call.

Judgement Day

On Judgement Day each of us will have to give a personal account to God. There are two questions that God will ask us on that day.

1) What did you do with my Son, Jesus Christ?

2) What did you do with what I gave you?

The first question determines where you spend eternity. The second question determines what you will do in eternity.

Good Works of Man

" I have some sweets in my hand that you like very much. But I suffer from leprosy and my hands are covered with germs. Hence, the sweets I have in my hands are not edible. I have to take some medication to clean my hands before I can take the sweets in my hand and share it with others.

The good works of a man who do not believe in Christ can be compared to these sweets in the hands of a leper. No matter how good his deeds are, they are not complete unless the man washes himself in the blood of Jesus Christ and cleanse himself. "

A beautiful allegory that I heard from Mrs. Mariamma Thampy

Discipleship: Imitating Christ

What does it mean to imitate Christ?

We have all been called to salvation by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our aim is now to imitate Christ; to clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ in all walks of our lives. How we do we imitate Christ Jesus?

Firstly, we must have the same mindset as Jesus. Jesus was the Son of God who never considered equality with God something to be used to his own advantage. He never boasted on His son-ship for personal gains. On the other hand, he acknowledged God, our Heavenly Father, to cast out demons from others. He accepted God, the Father's will to become man, to become His servant and die on the cross for all mankind. He showed that obedience is the first step to son-ship of God, the Father.

Secondly, he showed us the importance of personal prayer. The gospel tells us in many places that Jesus went away from the crowd to be alone with God, to take His quiet time with His father. If the Son of God wanted so much of personal prayer, how much do we - mere coheirs with Christ - need our quiet time.

Lastly, Jesus was always filled with compassion and love. While he hated sins, he was never hostile against sinners.

Let us pledge ourselves to imitate Christ today in every way he taught us.

A Disciple; Then An Apostle......

We have all been called to be diciples in Christ Jesus. A disciple, is one who has pledged to follow one's teaching and adhere to it. It is a commitment to keep learning everyday.

To be a disciple of Jesus, one only has to imitate Him and follow His example. In John 8: 31-32 Jesus said, " If you abide in my word, you truly are my disciples, and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free." He also says in Luke 14:27, "Whoever does not persevere and carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple."

We have to follow only two commandments to be His disciple: (Matthew 22: 36 - 40)
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
2. Love your neighbhour as yourself.

Now that you are a disciple of God, through Christ Jesus, what next? Is it enough to continue to live as His disciple? The question is something that we have to keep asking ourselves everyday.

Lord, what next?

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamo and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father who is in heaven". (Matt 5: 14 - 16)
Your duty, hence, is to be living examples to the people around you so that the Almighty may be praised through you. You have been filled by God with His knowledge and wisdom to be emptied out to the people around you.

So now that you are a disciple of God, through Christ Jesus, you should take a further step to fill yourself with the strength of the Holy Spirit to go out to the nations and to proclaim the good news. Your duty is now to be an Apostle of God.

When everyone has been called to discipleship, it is your, and only your commitment to the Father in Heaven to be His Apostle. Are you ready to be His Apostle?
